Good afternoon, Ravens,
It looks like summer has decided to make a comeback; we wish everyone a fantastic weekend, full of sunshine, gardening, and outdoor adventures!
A big thank you to the many parents who joined us for our first School Council/Parent Association meeting of the year! It was a great evening filled with updates, conversation, and lots of excitement about what is happening at RTA. Parents also had the chance to get hands-on and try out our new chop saws for Grade 9 CTF Architecture! These were purchased with funds raised through the Parent Association casino, and we are so excited to see our students putting this new equipment to use. The Parent Association plays such an important role in supporting our school. Through their fundraising efforts, they have helped fund many enhancements for RTA, including musical instruments, physical education equipment, laptops and laptop carts, storage bins, and so much more. We are incredibly grateful for their continued support and for the many ways they help enhance our students’ learning experiences. The next meeting is on Wednesday, October 14, and it will be our Annual General Meeting. All parents are welcome to join us. We would love to see you there! - Kirk Newman
RTA Truth and Reconciliation:
Each year, all CBE schools make a commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, and we are pleased to share our new commitment for the 2026–27 school year. Our Truth and Reconciliation Commitment can be found on our school website.
This year, our focus will be on land-based learning opportunities through the lenses of science and journaling. We look forward to creating meaningful opportunities for students to connect with the land while learning, reflecting, and sharing their experiences.
We will also recognize Orange Shirt Day on September 29 with a school-wide art project. We hope to display the finished project in our front foyer as a meaningful reminder of our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation.
Student Well-Being:
September is Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month, a reminder of the importance of mental wellness and seeking support when needed. We encourage families to continue having open, caring conversations with their children about emotions, stress, and overall well-being. Building strong connections and helping students and families know where to turn for support are important protective factors for mental health.
