• The Calgary Board of Education invites all parents and guardians to join us in an online series focusing on child and youth well-being. These sessions will be hosted in partnership with experts from Alberta Health Services and will explore topics such as vaping, brain development, mental health, and sexual health. 

• CBE educators believe that parents and guardians can inspire their kids to make healthy lifestyle choices and increase protective factors – in order to do so, they need the right tools and information.  Well-being is a precondition for learning. As our understanding of student well-being continues to evolve, it is important for those that support children and youth to stay up to date on the same information so everyone can support student success.

Picture Day at RTA | Wednesday, October 11, 2023:

• Students may not wear their hats for the first picture, as it is used for internal identification.
• Please email Ms. Hanley at rtalderman@cbe.ab.ca if you are able to help volunteer.
• Picture RETAKE day is on Thursday, November 16, 2023 AM.

RTA Remembrance Day Guest Speaker | Wednesday, November 8, 2023:

• On November 8, 2023, RTA will hold two separate Remembrance Day Assemblies. Due to our large population, we will have a Grade 5-6 Remembrance Day Assembly and a Grade 7-9 Remembrance Day Assembly.
• We are looking for a guest speaker for our Grade 5/6 and our Grade 7-9 Remembrance Day Assemblies.
• Please contact Dr. Gray at kegray@cbe.ab.ca if you are interested in volunteering or if you have any questions.
• Please note that students will be asked to remove their ‘caps, hats and toques,’ prior to the assembly.

Halloween at RTA:

• Students are encouraged to wear their best Halloween Costume – the ‘science-ier, the better – on Tuesday, October 31, 2023.
• While most of our students enjoy the opportunity to dress up, costumes should not impede learning – for example, students still need to be able to participate in PE.
• Please keep the following items at home:
  • no masks, no gore, no classroom candy, chips or treats, and no hand held objects – this would also include props such as light sabres.
• This is also wonderful opportunity to have a conversation with children regarding cultural appropriation.
