Good evening, Ravens,
What a week! From exploring the great outdoors on field trips, striking a pose on Photo Day, mastering the art of the fire drill, and uncovering hidden treasures in scavenger hunts—it’s safe to say our students have been busy! Add in some soccer, basketball, and engaging in our clubs and student voice activities, and have a formula for fun (E = MC²... where "E" equals "Energy," of course!).
Thank you for your ongoing support! We hope your child’s week was as eventful as it was enjoyable. Have a fantastic weekend, and remember—Newton’s First Law says a body at rest stays at rest... unless there’s more fun planned for the weekend!
Grade 6 PAT Results:
- Grade 7 students will receive a copy of their Science and Social Studies Provincial Achievement Test results on Monday.
- Please ask your student to share their report when they get home; the results will placed in a sealed envelop. (Grade 7 Teachers – Please tell students that they should not open up their results until they get home!)
Grade 5 & 6 Math Contest:
- The annual Beaver Computing Challenge is coming up in November. All grade 5 and 6 students will be challenging this online contest. This is a great low-risk opportunity for students to show case their problem solving and coding skills. As a science based school, we wish to promote a community of thinkers with strong reasoning skills.
- REVISED - A nominal fee of $3.05 per student will be added to PowerSchool to register for the challenge.
- Practice questions and previous challenges can be accessed here:

Halloween at RTA:
- Students are encouraged to wear their best Halloween Costume – the ‘science-ie, the better – on Thursday, October 31, 2024.
- Costumes should not impede learning – for example, students should still be able to participate in PE.
- As wellness and safety are always our number one priority, we ask that the following items remain at home:
- no masks, no gore, no blow-up costumes, no classroom candy, chips or treats, and no hand held objects – this would also include props such as light sabres.
- As shared last year, this is also wonderful opportunity to have a conversation with children regarding cultural appropriation.
- Here are some great resources from last year that can help guide discussions about Halloween Costumes:
