Good afternoon, Raven Families,

Wishing everyone a relaxing and enjoyable weekend!

A big thank you to our School Council for bringing Paul Davis to the school – the feedback from both students and parents has been overwhelmingly positive, and we are so grateful for this opportunity.

CTF Fashion Volunteers

·       Fashion 7 Support - We are looking for support in CTF Fashion for hand sewing (visible mending) and sewing machines (making pajama pants).

·       Help is requested for Period 1 and Period 6 on alternating weeks, starting the week of January 26.

·       If you are available to help out our Fashion 7 students with building their sewing skills and completing their projects, please reach out to Ms. Shuffler at mashuffler@cbe.ab.ca.

Library & Bulletin Board Volunteers

·       We are looking for creative and detail-loving volunteers to help us around the school! If you enjoy organizing and decorating, perhaps your friends have suggested that you have bit of a “Pinterest eye,” we would love your help with organizing and refreshing our school library and setting up and beautifying bulletin boards to showcase student learning.

·       Time commitments are flexible, and we are happy to work around your availability.

·       If this sounds like something that you would enjoy, please reply to this email or contact the school office. We would be so grateful for your help!

Office Reminders

·       A reminder to continue to pack food on Fridays as we still have a nutrition break. Many students come to the office on Fridays for snacks as they do not bring their own food and get very hungry.

·       Also, a friendly reminder to please email the office if you are picking up your student early; we ask that you please pick up students prior to 3:25 PM or please wait until dismissal at 3:40 PM, as the office is very busy at this time of day.

Purdy's Band Fundraiser

·       The RT Alderman Band Program is participating in the Purdy's Easter Fundraiser. Proceeds will help purchase music and supplies and offset costs associated with enriching supplemental band experiences. The fundraiser will close on Thursday, Feb. 19 and orders will be delivered to RT Alderman School for pick up on Thursday, March 19 (parent teacher interview evening).

·        Please use the link below to submit and order. Thank you for supporting the band program!

Lunchtime and Off Campus

  • At lunchtime, students in grades 7, 8 and 9 are welcome to remain in their classrooms to eat lunch from 12:05 until 12:25 PM.
  • On Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, students in grades 8 and 9, and on Thursdays, students in grade 7 may go off campus during this time if they wish.  However, if they choose to leave the school during this time, students must remain outside.  There will be no “in and out” opportunities.
  • Once students have finished eating, all grades 7, 8 and 9 students will be expected to be outside beginning at 12:25 PM. Given the fluctuations in temperatures, students are reminded to bring appropriate clothing to be outside.
  • In addition to this, students are reminded they are not permitted to be in the following areas during the lunch period.
    • The playground at Maple Ridge School
    • The Willow Park Community Center - this includes the Gaga ball pit, hockey rink, skating pathway and parking lot
  • Should students be found in these areas during the lunch period, they will lose their off-campus privileges.
