Lunar New Year

• February 17, 2026, marks Lunar New Year, a significant cultural celebration observed by many communities across Canada and around the world. Within CBE, our schools reflect a rich diversity of languages, traditions, and lived experiences, and this occasion offers an opportunity to continue fostering welcoming, caring, respectful, and safe learning environments for all.
• Often referred to as the Spring Festival, Chinese New Year, Tết by Vietnamese communities, or Seollal by Korean communities, this celebration holds deep cultural and historical meaning for many Southeast Asian Communities and Canadians. It is one of the most widely recognized and joyfully observed events globally, and many schools take this time to share globally, and many schools take this time to share understandings, deepen learning, honour cultural understandings, and invite ways of knowing.
