Good evening, Raven Families,
As we conclude another enriching week of discovery, adventure and exploration, both inside and outside of the school, I would like to thank all of our amazing parent volunteers!
Grade 5 & 6 Math Contest:
· The Annual Beaver Computing Challenge is coming up in November. All grade 5 and 6 students will be challenging this online contest. This is a great low-risk opportunity for students to showcase their problem solving and coding skills. As a science based school, we wish to promote a community of thinkers with strong reasoning skills. The nominal fee of $3.00 will be added to PowerSchool to register for the challenge. Practice questions and previous challenges can be accessed here:

Picture Day at RTA | Wednesday, October 16, 2024:
- We ask that families please gently remind their students that they may not wear their hats for the first picture, as it will used for internal identification.
- PARENT VOLUNTEERS needed - Please email Ms. Moses at rtalderman@cbe.ab.ca if you are able to volunteer for picture day.
- Picture RETAKE day is on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.
Terry Fox Run:
· I could not be more proud of our students for their incredible energy, dedication, and spirit during this year’s Terry Fox Run. Watching them run with determination and enthusiasm, while embodying the values of courage and community, truly filled my heart with pride. Their efforts honor Terry’s legacy and make a real difference—thank you for your ongoing support!
Halloween at RTA:
- Students are encouraged to wear their best Halloween Costume – the ‘science-ier, the better – on Thursday, October 31, 2024.
- Costumes should not impede learning – for example, students should still be able to participate in PE.
- As wellness and safety are always our number one priority, we ask that the following items remain at home:
- no masks, no gore, no blow-up costumes, no classroom candy, chips or treats, and no hand held objects – this would also include props such as light sabres.
- As shared last year, this is also wonderful opportunity to have a conversation with children regarding cultural appropriation.
- Here are some great resources from last year that can help guide discussions about Halloween Costumes:
