Week in a Glance: June 1 – June 5

Good afternoon, Raven families,

Looking ahead, next week is going to be a sprint from start to finish. Tuesday brings our Track and Field Meet, Wednesday is our Band Concert, Thursday is the Grade 9 Heritage Park Dinner and Dance, and Friday wraps things up with an Indigenous Hoop Dancer Presentation and Football Tournament. It is shaping up to be one of those weeks where the calendar looks like it had too much caffeine. Have a great weekend - enjoy the sunshine, rain, wind, or whatever weather Calgary decides to send our way, and make sure to rest up.

Career Technology Foundations and Band (Gr. 7-9)

  • To better support Raven families in understanding how Science Alternative programming works in Gr. 7-9 at RTA, specifically, the Career and Technology Foundations (CTF) rotation model and Band as an option, we have posted an informational presentation on the school website that we hope provides greater clarity and understanding: Career & Technology - R. T. Alderman School
  • Our goal is to help families better understand the opportunities available to students, how the CTF structure supports exploration and skill development, and how Band fits within our overall middle school program.
  • If you have any further questions after reviewing the presentation, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I would be happy to discuss our programming and help clarify any aspects of the program.  – B Lewis

Lost and Found:

  • Our Lost and Found collection has grown considerably over the past few months!
  • Next week, all Lost and Found items will be displayed in the school foyer to give students an opportunity to look through and claim any missing belongings.
  • We encourage families to remind their children to check the display, if they are missing clothing, water bottles, lunch containers, or other personal items.
  • Any unclaimed items will be packaged up and donated following the display period.
  • Thank you for your help in reuniting these items with their owners!

Gauss Math Contest:

  • Congratulations to our Grade 7 and 8 students on their successful participation in the Gauss Math Contest! We are so proud of the effort, perseverance, and problem-solving skills that they demonstrated throughout the competition.
  • A special thank you to Mr. B for organizing the event and providing our students with this valuable opportunity to challenge themselves, showcase their learning, and develop a love of mathematics. Well done to everyone involved!
