Happy Friday, RTA Ravens, 

As we wrap up another week, I hope this message finds you well. With the cold spell settling in, I encourage everyone to take some time to relax and stay cozy this weekend. Whether it’s enjoying a warm cup of hot chocolate, bundling up for some fresh air, or simply spending quality time indoors, I hope you find ways to rest and recharge. 

Girls Excel in Math (GEM) Calgary: 

Calling all grades 6-8 girls who are interested in math! Girls Excel in Math (GEM) Calgary is a free Saturday enrichment program for any grades 6 - 8 students who identify as girls and want to have fun exploring some interesting mathematical topics they wouldn't normally see in the classroom! Students will begin in a large lecture hall with a session led by Lauren DeDieu and then split into a smaller classroom with other students from RTA and Ms. Shuffler. 

GEM will take place at the University of Calgary from 9am – 12pm on the following dates: 

• Saturday, Mar. 8th, 2025: Mathematical Card Tricks 

• Saturday, Apr. 5th, 2025: Taxicab Geometry

RTA Wall of Fame: 

We are excited to announce a fantastic opportunity to celebrate your child's achievements on our new “RTA Wall of Fame”! Our goal is to foster community, belonging, and pride by recognizing (“R”) their talents (“T”) and achievements (“A”) outside of school. 

We invite your child to bring in items that highlight their achievements from 2023 – current date. Suggested items include:

1. Medals, ribbons, or small trophies (from music, sports, etc.)
2. Photos of your child in action or celebrating an accomplishment
3. Artwork created at home
4. Creative literature (poems, songs, etc.)
5. Any other items that showcase your child’s efforts!

The Grade 6's will have from January to about mid-February to showcase their items, which will be displayed in an enclosed case in our hallway. Items will be returned to your child after their month of display. 

Please ensure all items are labeled with your child’s name and homeroom number (masking tape would be great!).

Leaving RTA next year?

·         As registration for RTA’s Science Program starts next week, we are hoping to have an accurate student count, before making any decisions regarding classroom numbers at each grade level.

·         If your child is currently attending RTA or Maple Ridge (grade 4), they are automatically registered at RTA for the 2025-2026 school year (NO action required).

·         However, if your child will be attending a different school, please let the office know ASAP at rtalderman@cbe.ab.ca.

·         Best efforts have been made to include volleyball practices and games on the weekly schedule; however, students and families should refer to the calendar provided by coaches for the most accurate information. Specific questions regarding times and dates should be directed towards the volleyball leaders.
