Week in a Glance: April 27 – May 1
Good afternoon, Raven families,
What a week! From +20 to -17 with the wind chill, it has kept us all on our toes.
With this opening remark, we remind students and families to ensure students are dressed and prepared for the weather. All students are required to go outside at lunch time and our PE program will also be outside as students engage in various track and field events. The week ahead looks chilly to begin and looks to improves as the week moves on.
Earth Day saw our grade 5 students head outside to care for our school yard as well as partake in a community walk to clean up trash and garbage in our neighbourhood. Ms. Shuffler's Grade 7 Fashion students held their clothing exchange on Wednesday. This was a huge success with many students bringing home new clothing items and a smile on their face. Given the success, we are considering making this an annual event.
On Thursday, our grade 6 students and Student Well Being Action Team (SWAT), led by Mr. Lee, collaborated with students from Maple Ridge School to participate in the Ani to Pisi event. The event, led by Maple Ridge, saw Elder Roy and Elder Hayden share their wisdom and words of encouragement with staff and students. Along with two Indigenous drummers, students performed outside and did a wonderful job. Despite the chilly wind, the event was a big success. – Kirk Newman
