Sock Rocket | Grade 8 CTF
As part of our learning, grade 8 students had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with Tommy Zizian, the founder of Sock Rocket (sockrocket.ca)—a local Calgary-based social enterprise that blends fun sock designs with meaningful community impact. Through this partnership, students explored some key marketing concepts while learning how a social enterprise operates in the real world.
One of the highlights of the project was a creative challenge where students designed their own socks and submitted them to Tommy as part of a friendly design contest. The winning designs would be brought to production, with winners receiving 10 pairs of their custom socks and the opportunity to choose an organization for their donation socks to go to.
We're thrilled to share that Lea and Oliver’s designs were selected as the winners—congratulations!
Earth Day: April 22, 2025
· The theme for Earth Day 2025 is Our Power, Our Planet, inviting everyone around the globe to unite behind renewable energy, and to triple the global generation of clean electricity by 2030.
· Throughout Earth Week, students will take part in classroom discussions, hands-on projects, and outdoor clean-up activities focused on protecting our planet.
· Earth Week is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn how their actions can make a positive impact on the environment.
· We encourage families to join us in celebrating Earth Day at home—whether it is by reducing waste, turning off lights, or spending time in nature together. Every small action counts!
· Thank you for your continued support in helping our students become responsible global citizens.
