Week in a Glance: April 20 – April 24
Good afternoon, Raven families,
This week at RTA proved to be filled with lots of excitement! Grade 5 intramural badminton happened at lunch on two days and we saw many of our students come out and enjoy a match or two against their classmates and friends. Our SR and JR badminton teams were selected and practices will begin next week. Thursday provided some challenges for our PE team who worked to adjust based on significant snowfall. We wrapped up the week with two pep rallies led by our Grade 9 leadership team and supported by Mr. Dalayoan. The excitement in the gym was fantastic. We had an opportunity to recognize our students athletes, CYSF representatives and Math contest winners. Students and staff also engaged in some playful games that resulted in many cheers and celebrations. It was a wonderful way to end our week as a community. – Mr. Newman
CYSF Results:
- We are thrilled to share our students’ incredible achievements at this year’s City Science Fair. RTA delivered an outstanding performance, earning the City of Calgary Society of Professional Engineers (CCSPE) Aggregate Award for achieving the top average mark across our top four elementary projects. This is a remarkable accomplishment and a testament to the hard work, curiosity, and dedication of our students, parents, staff and everyone else involved!
- In addition to this prestigious award, our students brought home an impressive collection of honours:
- 4 Bronze Medals
- 10 Silver Medals
- 6 Gold Medals
- 4 Floor Awards
- 5 Major Stage Awards
- We are also incredibly proud to announce that Vivienne S has been selected as a Canada-Wide Science Fair finalist and will represent our school at the national competition in Edmonton this May.

Earth Day
- The theme for Earth Day this year is conscious consumption. In the spirit of this theme, we are so excited to be having a clothing exchange for Earth Day hosted by our Grade 7 Fashion students! We are looking for donations of clean clothes in good condition.
- Donations should be brought to Ms. Shuffler in Rm 25 by Tuesday, April 21. Thank you in advance for your support!
