Good afternoon, Raven Families,
Wishing you all a wonderful and restful weekend! I am especially looking forward to seeing the incredible work of our RTA students showcased at the Calgary Youth Science Fair this weekend, held at the University of Calgary. Their creativity, curiosity, and commitment to science are truly inspiring, and I cannot wait to celebrate their efforts.

Sharing Back | School Planning:
· Thank you to everyone who participated in our school planning engagement. We know we make better decisions to support student learning when we build understanding and work together.
· The valuable feedback that we received will be considered when making decisions about school planning: School Planning Engagement - R. T. Alderman School
Next Year Bell Times:
· As previously shared, for the 2025-26 school year, the CBE will be expanding yellow bus service and adjusting walk zones. This is in response to School Transportation Amendment Regulation for student transportation that comes into effect on Sept. 1, 2025. This means many more students will become eligible to take the bus.
· When changes are made to yellow bus transportation, it has an impact on bell times for schools. That’s because bell times are directly connected to transportation. Aligning bell times across schools makes transportation more efficient, allowing each bus to run multiple routes. This creates a reliable transportation system, ensuring students get to school safely, on time and ready to learn.
· Next year the bell times at our school are as follows:
o Monday – Thursday: 9:10 – 3:40 PM
o Friday – 9:10 – 1:00 PM
· Bell times were reviewed across the CBE to ensure transportation system reliability, while also making sure that students receive the required instructional hours while maintaining time for breaks, transitions and extracurricular opportunities.
· To learn more about the bell time changes at the CBE, visit our website for details including Questions & Answers.
· Please know that we understand that the adjustment to the new bell times has brought added stress and disruption for many families, and we want to acknowledge the challenges this change may be creating in your daily routines.
Materials for upcoming Textile Projects:
As you do some spring cleaning, please note that we [Ms.Kelly/ Grade 6] are collecting materials for upcoming textiles projects! If you have any of the following items that you no longer need, we would greatly appreciate your donations:
- Yarn (any color/texture/amount!)
- Buttons (any colour/shape/size!)
- Felt fabric
- Knitting needles
- Crochet hooks
- Embroidery hoops
Please drop off any donations at the office (Ms. Kelly will provide a box), or students can drop off donations to Ms. Kelly's classroom. Thank you so much for helping us gather materials for fun and creative textile projects!
Earth Day: April 22, 2025
· The theme for Earth Day 2025 is Our Power, Our Planet, inviting everyone around the globe to unite behind renewable energy, and to triple the global generation of clean electricity by 2030.
· Throughout Earth Week, students will take part in classroom discussions, hands-on projects, and outdoor clean-up activities focused on protecting our planet.
· Earth Week is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn how their actions can make a positive impact on the environment.
· We encourage families to join us in celebrating Earth Day at home—whether it is by reducing waste, turning off lights, or spending time in nature together. Every small action counts!
· Thank you for your continued support in helping our students become responsible global citizens.
